For the past week or two the the weather here has been chilly and damp, with more than a little breeze blowing-and sometimes big gusts of wind. Typical April weather. So we have been dragging out the dollar store kites and going to a local park to fly a kite in between rain storms. Watching a small child fly a kite is amazing. Some moments it seems like they will never get the kite very far off the ground, if at all. We shout words of encouragement and they run faster, and harder..until liftoff. And the kite soars. And the child smiles.
